A 1.4 MWe used biomass power plant fuelled by wood chips driving an ORC type turbine – our top offer in August 2024 under PPO-141

[August 2024] This used biomass power plant from Western Europe has been decommissioned in Spring 2024. It is based on an Organic Rankine Cycle (ORC) condensing turbine which is driven by thermal oil from the 11 MWth biomass boiler. The turbine feed and return temperatures of the oil are 325 and 245 degrees C respectively.

This used biomass power plant fuelled by wood chips from 2006 is equipped with an e-filter for flue gas cleaning. Other key components include three primary and two secondary air fans, an air preheater and an ash disposal system. The maximum fuel throughput is 4.9 t/h, with a maximum water content of 50 % of the fuel weight. The last major inspection took place in 2023, without any particular findings. The condition of the entire plant is still very good. The plant with our ID No. PPO-141 is for sale without building for 599,000 US Dollars (549,000 Euros) and can be dismantled by the buyer at any time.

Another biomass and waste boiler for sale is from 2002. This boiler generates heated thermal oil of up to 350 degrees C with a thermal output of at least 2 MWth (EQO-27). It could supplement the above plant at a new location, as it can also burn waste materials thanks to its sophisticated filter systems (0.5 t/h fuel per 1 MWth boiler output). As belonging to a former test plant, this smaller boiler has very few operating hours.
